City League Basketball is currently up in the air this year due to Covid. We will keep you informed as we get more information.

The coaches will be parent or community adult volunteers as approved by the board. The season runs from the 1st week of November through the 3rd week of December with the player evaluations occurring during the last week of October. All teams will have 1 or 2 practices a week. All teams will play officiated games on either Monday or Saturday using scoreboards operated by parent volunteers. Scores and standings will be kept. There will be an end of the year tournament involving all teams.
Registration will be held starting from the beginning of the calendar school year and run through the third Monday of October. Upon registering, each player will be given a time and location where city league skills evaluations will be held to assess ability. A parental waiver will be signed addressing each player’s medical concerns during registration.

The skills evaluations will be held October 21st-24th. Each player will engage in a series of fundamental exercises made up of dribbling, lay-ups, perimeter shooting, passing, and defensive shuffle. The coordinators of each division with the assistance of the coaches will design these exercises based on age and ability. Each player will be given a rating from each teams coach. The ratings will be calculated just prior to the league draft. All coaches should attend the skill session to rate the player’s abilities and to help in organizing the skill session drills.
Game dates will be 11/18, 11/25, 12/2, and 12/9. There will also be two tournaments. One on 11/23 and 12/14,
Playing time is to be distributed evenly among all players who are present at any given game. No player will be allowed to play extra time in order to affect the outcome of a game.
Coaches will ensure that every eligible player who participates in at least 1 of the 2 scheduled practices the week of the game gets playing time per the Playing Time Rules. All coaches will be instructed to help ensure that this is met.
